Support & Help Center
Something not working, or not sure how a feature is meant to behave? Start with the answers below — and if they don't cover it, write to us. A person reads every message, and there is no ticket queue to get lost in.
- Email differently.apps@gmail.com in English, Korean, or Indonesian — we usually reply within two business days.
- Or send feedback from inside the app: Settings → Send feedback. It reaches the same place.
- Differently runs on iPhone, Android, Windows, macOS, and any browser at app.differently.work. One account, everything synced.
- Everything in the app is free today. If paid features ever arrive, you will know before you are charged — see Subscriptions and billing.
1. Contact us
In short: One email address, a human on the other end.
Email differently.apps@gmail.com in English, Korean, or Indonesian. If you're reporting something broken, these three things get you an answer much faster:
- What you did, step by step, right before it went wrong.
- What you expected versus what actually happened.
- Where — iPhone, Android, Windows, macOS, or the browser — and, if you know it, the app version shown in your app store.
A screenshot is worth a paragraph. Send one if you can. You can also write to us from inside the app under Settings → Send feedback.
2. Getting started
In short: Install it where you work, sign in once, and your account follows you.
Differently is available on the download page for iPhone and iPad (App Store), Android (Google Play), Windows and macOS (desktop app), and directly in your browser at app.differently.work. Sign in with the same Google or Apple account on each device and your tasks, routines, focus sessions, notes, and settings sync between them. On the phone, the first screen is your home (the work circle); the round timer at the top opens the focus screen, and the ☰ menu holds everything else — including a short Tutorial you can replay any time.
3. Your account and signing in
In short: Sign in with Google or Apple. There is no password to lose. Delete your account any time from Settings — it is erased immediately.
Signing in. Differently uses Sign in with Apple or Google. There is no separate password to remember or lose. Signing in is required so that your work survives a lost device and syncs across platforms.
Signed in but your data looks empty? Check that you used the same provider as last time — an account created with Apple and one created with Google are two different accounts, even if the email address looks the same. If you used Apple's Hide My Email, the account is tied to that relay address, so sign in with Apple again rather than with Google.
Sign-in won't complete? Make sure the login opened in your normal browser or the system sign-in sheet, not inside another app's built-in browser (for example a link opened from a chat app), and that your device's date and time are set automatically.
Deleting your account. Settings → General → Delete account (on the phone: ☰ → Settings → General, at the very bottom) erases your account and everything in it from our servers immediately. It cannot be undone. Full detail on the Delete your account page.
4. Sync and your data
In short: Sync is automatic and works around short offline stretches. Give it a moment.
Changes are saved on your device first and then synced to your account, so the app keeps working without a connection and catches up when you're back online. If something you did on one device isn't on another yet, open the app on the device where you made the change, make sure it's online, and give it a few seconds; then open the other device. If two devices edit the same thing while offline, the most recent change wins. Your data is stored with Supabase in Singapore — see the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
5. Focus timer, breaks, and Deep Focus
In short: Pick a task, pick a preset, start. The timer keeps running when your screen turns off.
- Presets. The focus screen offers focus lengths, break lengths, and a free-focus mode with a set number of blocks (or unlimited). Starting from a task uses that task's estimated pomodoros.
- Deep Focus. With Deep Focus on, the last block doesn't stop when the time is up — it keeps counting so you can ride the momentum. End it yourself when you're done; the time is still recorded.
- Stopping early. You can end a session early from the focus screen at any time.
- Screen off. On the phone, the session continues while the screen is off and an ongoing notification shows it; when a block ends, an alarm fires even if the app is in the background. If a timer seems frozen after unlocking your phone, open the app once — it settles the session from the real clock.
- Too much motion or sound? Settings → Appearance and Settings → Focus let you change the look, the alarm sound and its volume, and the ambience and beats.
6. Notifications and alarms
In short: Allow notifications in your device settings first, then check Settings → Notifications in the app.
| Problem | Try this |
|---|---|
| No notifications at all | Allow notifications for Differently in your phone or computer settings, then re-check Settings → Notifications in the app. |
| iPhone: they arrive late or not at all | A Focus mode or Scheduled Summary can hold them back. Check Settings → Focus and Notifications → Scheduled Summary on your iPhone. |
| Android: alarms stop after a while | Battery optimisation can put the app to sleep. In your phone's settings, set Differently to Unrestricted (or "Don't optimise") and allow alarms and reminders. |
| Desktop: nothing shows up | Windows and macOS have their own notification and Do Not Disturb (Focus Assist) settings — check that Differently is allowed there. |
7. Body Doubling and friends
In short: Friends see only whether you're focusing — never your tasks, notes, or screen.
Open Body Doubling (☰ → Body double on the phone; the Body Doubling panel on the desktop) and add a friend with their code; Settings → Focus together holds the related options. Connections need both sides to accept, so if a friend doesn't show up, check for a pending request on both ends. While the app is open, friends see your display name, avatar, and a live "focusing / on a break" status — nothing else. Remove a friend at any time, which stops all status sharing with them.
8. Trackers and reminders
In short: Optional daily check-ins — meals, water, snacks, medicine, prayer times, or your own items.
Trackers are off by default. Turn them on and set the times in the clock settings; they then appear as chips on your home screen and in the ☰ sheet, where you tick them off. They are reminders only — Differently is not a medical device and doesn't give health advice.
9. BrainDump notes and locked notes
In short: Notes and boards for getting things out of your head. A locked note is encrypted — forget the PIN and nobody can open it, including us.
BrainDump gives you plain notes and, on the desktop and the phone, a board you can pan, zoom, and arrange. You can lock a note with a PIN. A locked note's text is encrypted on your device before it syncs, and the key never leaves your device — so if you forget the PIN, the note cannot be recovered by you or by us. Keep the PIN somewhere safe.
10. Subscriptions and billing
In short: Everything is free today. If paid features arrive, the app store handles billing — and we'll tell you before anything is charged.
Right now every feature in Differently is available to everyone, with no subscription and no in-app purchases. If we introduce optional paid features in the future, you will see the price, the billing period, and what's included before you buy, and nothing you already have will be taken away without notice.
When that day comes, purchases made inside the iPhone or Android app are billed by Apple or Google, not by us. That means: subscriptions are managed and cancelled in your App Store or Google Play account settings (not inside the app, and not by deleting the app or your account); refunds are requested from the store under its policy; and we never see your card number. If you can't find a charge, email us with the date and the amount and we'll help you find the right place. The full terms are in Terms of Service & EULA.
11. Other common questions
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Can I change the language? | Yes — Settings → General → Language. Differently is available in English, Korean, Indonesian, and several other languages. |
| Can I use it without signing in? | No — an account is required so your work survives a lost device and syncs across platforms. |
| The app says a new version is available | Update from the App Store or Google Play. The desktop app updates itself; if it asks you to restart to finish an update, do that. The browser version is always current. |
| Is there a widget? | On Android, yes — add the Differently widget from your launcher's widget picker. |
| Where is my data stored, and who can see it? | With Supabase in Singapore, isolated per account. We show no ads, sell no data, and use no advertising trackers. Details in the Privacy Policy. |
| I found a bug / I have an idea | Both go to the same address, and both get read — see the next section. |
12. Bugs and feature requests
In short: Both go to the same address, and both get read.
Differently is built for ADHD and differently-wired brains, and most of what's in it came from people describing where they got stuck. If a part of the app fights you, tell us what it felt like — that's more useful than a proposed solution.
13. Privacy and terms
See the Privacy Policy for what we collect and why, and the Terms of Service & EULA for the rules of use and the app license. Differently is a focus and planning tool. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition.
